Built in 1994, the 36-foot-tall corn stalk is a symbol of the famous Taber Corn.
Organized by members of the Taber Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (GWVA) in honour of the 25 men who did not return from World War I. A local veteran posed for a picture, the photographs were then sent to Italy, where master sculptors completed what is said to be one of the most perfect replica of a Canadian soldier.
The museum focuses on the impact of irrigation on Taber’s development. It showcases the irrigation systems and processes from early labour-intensive methods to the current computer technologies that growers use.
Cornfest is an annual summer festival held on the last full weekend in August, and includes a midway (rides, booths, and tests of skill) and a stage with performers. It is the largest free family festival in Western Canada, and is organized by the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce. There are a number of corn-based activities, such as corn tasting and stuffing. Corn stuffing involves two people, one wearing an oversized coverall. One of the contestants attempts to stuff as much corn as possible into the other's coverall. Whichever team can put the most corn in the coveralls in the allotted time wins. During Cornfest, large-scale, local corn producers enter their best varieties in the 'Best Corn of the Year' award.
Located in the Oldman River Valley.
It's at the confluence of the Bow and Oldman Rivers, where they become the South Saskatchewan River. This spot is home to Sturgeon spawning grounds and is considered one of the best fishing locations in Southern Alberta.
Seasonal, with corn stands located throughout Alberta.
