About us
Mr Trip Buddy is an independent travel guide for people planning their own trips. We bring together what travellers usually have to collect from a dozen different websites (when to go, entry rules, costs, official safety advice, weather, transport and the places worth visiting) and add our own practical articles on top.
Our articles
Our travel articles are written by the Mr Trip Buddy editorial team: destination guides, itineraries, budgets with real prices, transport explainers and etiquette guides. Each one follows the same standards:
- Facts are checked against official sources. Ticket prices, opening days, transport routes, journey times and entry rules are checked with the operators, tourism boards and government websites that publish them. When a detail cannot be confirmed, we say so or leave it out.
- Prices are given in local currency, with a rounded US dollar equivalent, and approximate figures are labelled as approximate.
- No invented experiences. We do not publish made-up anecdotes, quotes or reviews.
- Photos show what the text describes. They come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, and every photographer is credited under the photo.
- Articles are dated. Each shows when it was published and when it was last updated.
Destination pages
Every country and destination page combines several sources, each credited on the page and listed on our data sources page:
- Guide text (sights, places to eat and stay, getting around) comes from Wikivoyage, the free travel guide written by travellers, and is shown with credit and a link to the original article.
- Practical facts such as visa requirements, emergency numbers, plug types, airports, exchange rates, weather forecasts and climate averages are fetched from official and open data services and kept up to date automatically.
- Transport operators (rail, bus, ferry, urban transit and airlines) are checked by hand against each operator’s official website.
- Safety advice is shown exactly as two governments publish it, side by side, with links to the full text. We do not rate destinations as safe or unsafe ourselves.
- Estimates are labelled. Prices that are not live, such as typical daily budgets or nightly room rates, are always marked as estimates.
Free planning tools
Our tools (trip planner, budget calculator, visa checker, weather, packing list and distance calculator) are free and work without an account.
Independence
Mr Trip Buddy is free to read and is funded by advertising and, on some booking links, affiliate commissions. Neither ever affects which destinations, hotels or services we write about or recommend. Read our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections and contact

Wikivoyage guide text can also be corrected directly on Wikivoyage, and changes appear here within a day. More ways to reach us are on the contact page.
