Cabras

A Renaissance building is situated on the shore of the Stagno di Cabras lagoon . A park and promenade extend to the south.

Built in 1601.

Finds from the Nuragic period, including the warrior statues from Mont'e Prama, and finds from Tharros and the surrounding area.

It can be reached via a gravel road from the SP6.

In the area of the small country church southwest of the Stagno di Cabras, a Nuragic well sanctuary already existed , which continued to be used by the Phoenicians and Romans. In the "Hypogee of San Salvatore," "Hercules Soter" was venerated in Roman times, and "Christ the Savior" or San Salvatore in Christian times. A steep staircase in the central aisle of the nave of the pilgrimage chapel, built in the early 18th century, led down into the hypogeum. The original Nuragic well sanctuary was expanded in Roman times into a vaulted chamber with several rooms. Today, the pilgrimage church is the destination of the Corsa degli Scalzi, the "Race of the Barefoot", in which the holy image  is carried over 12 km from Cabras to San Salvatore and back. The small church is surrounded by pilgrim huts, known as "Monistenes" or "Combessias," which used to be inhabited by monks and pilgrims and are now occupied by participants in the Corsa degli Scalzi.
