South Fujian (闽南 mǐnnán) is a populous region in Fujian Province that has been doing foreign trade for centuries. It is the ancestral home for many overseas Chinese.
Xiamen has the main airport of the region with connections to all major Chinese cities, quite a few elsewhere in Asia, and even flights to Amsterdam. See Xiamen#By plane for discussion.

Putian (莆田 Pútián) Putian, located on the southeast coast of Fujian Province, China, is a city with a long history and rich cultural heritage, and is known as the hometown of Mazu, the "goddess of peace on the sea". It is known for its beautiful natural scenery, with famous scenic spots such as Meizhou Island and Jiuli Lake, and is the birthplace of Mazu culture and a pilgrimage center for believers from all over the world.
Quanzhou (泉州; Choân-chiu in Minnan, Quánzhōu in Mandarin) is a coastal city in Fujian Province north of Xiamen and south of Fuzhou. Older romanisations, no longer in use, include Ch'üan-chou, Chuanchow and Chinchew.
Anxi is a county in Quanzhou Prefecture, the center of an agricultural area well known for tea.
Hui'an (惠安 Hūi-oaⁿ in Minnan, Huì'ān in Mandarin) is a suburban area and industrial town on the east side of Quanzhou.
Chongwu (崇武 Chóngwǔ) is a small town in Hui'an County, Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian.
Dehua County (德化县; Déhuàxiàn) is a region in Quanzhou prefecture. The name Dehua can refer either to the county as a whole or to the market town which is its center.
Jinjiang (晋江; Tsìn-kang in Minnan, Jìnjiāng in Mandarin) is a mainly industrial city just across the river from Quanzhou in Fujian. Administratively, it is a county-level city in Quanzhou Prefecture, but for practical purposes it can be thought of as a suburb of Quanzhou.
Shishi (石狮 Chio̍h-sai in Minnan, Shíshī in Mandarin) is a small city in Fujian, located between Xiamen and Quanzhou. The main industries are clothing factories and stone quarries.
Xiamen (厦门; Ē-mn̂g in Minnan, Xiàmén in Mandarin, former English name: Amoy) is a coastal city in Fujian Province in China. It is a very vibrant, affluent and modern place, though by Chinese standards it is a small city — only 5.1 million counting suburbs (2020).
Gulangyu (鼓浪屿 Kó͘-lōng-sū in Minnan, Gǔlàngyǔ in Mandarin) is an island in Xiamen, a few minutes by ferry from downtown. It has a population around 17,000 and an area of about 2 km² (500 acres).
Haicang (海沧; Hái-chhng in Minnan, Hǎicāng in Mandarin) is a suburb of Xiamen.
Jimei (集美; Chi̍p-bí in Minnan, Jíměi in Mandarin) is a town in Fujian. It is administratively a part of Xiamen and shares many features of Xiamen, including a common public transportation system.
Tong'an (同安, Tâng-oaⁿ in Minnan, Tóng'ān in Mandarin) is a suburb of Xiamen.
Xiang'an (翔安, Siông-an in Minnan, Xiáng'ān in Mandarin) is a suburb of Xiamen.
Zhangzhou (漳州; Chiang-chiu in Minnan, Zhāngzhōu in Mandarin) is a city of 4.8 million people (2010) in the west of Fujian Province in China.
Liu'ao (六鳌 Liù'áo) is a peninsula in Zhangpu County of Zhangzhou City, in the southern part of China’s Fujian Province.
