Changle (长乐; Chánglè) is a small city (about half a million), administratively part of Fuzhou, in Fujian. Much of Changle is effectively an ancestral hometown. Chinese people from around the world, and virtually all Fuzhounese Americans in New York City, have ties or are descended from Changle (and not Fuzhou city proper), and nearly all of its development is funded by remittances from its diaspora.

南山公园
Manchuarian Village, 琴江村
企业号
One of the headquarters of NetDragon, a company specializing in the development of online games and education software. Unusually, the building is designed to look like the Starship Enterprise from the Star Trek TV series, making this place a must-see for Star Trek fans. The building is not normally open to the public, but can be viewed from the outside.
长乐区博物馆
长乐华侨博物馆
Museum about the many people who have migrated overseas from Changle. The items on display were all donated to the museum by overseas Chinese people with Changle ancestry.
显应宫
A notable Taoist temple close to the airport. It was first built during the Song Dynasty but burnt down in a great fire during the late Qing Dynasty. In 1992, during the construction of the airport, it was discovered that part of the old temple had survived underground, and a large number of sculptures and other artifacts from the old temple were also uncovered. A new temple was then built over the site. The surviving sections of the old temple have been preserved and incorporated into the new temple.
郑和公园
Park dedicated to Zheng He, the famous Chinese navigator. Within the park is the Shengshou Pagoda (圣寿宝塔), one of the oldest pagodas in the Fuzhou region. In 1412, Zheng He came here to help restore the pagoda and construct a temple next to it before embarking on his fourth voyage. The temple was unfortunately destroyed during the Second World War, but the pagoda survived and is now one of the main attractions in the park. Also in the park is a museum displaying artifacts connected to Zheng He’s voyages. The most notable of these artifacts is a stele recording details of Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Pacific. One can also see a replica of the bronze bell that used to belong to the temple. The original bell, however, is kept at the National Museum of China in Beijing.
冰心公园
Historically this was the site of.a major river port known as Taiping Port. Zheng He departed from here when embarking on hiis voyages. Later, however, the river became silted up and the land was used for farming for a period of time before being turned into a park. The main attraction in the park is the Bingxin Literature Museum (冰心文学馆), which has exhibitions on Xie Bingxin (1900-1999), one of the most prolific female Chinese writers of the 20th century. The museum’s main exhibition hall is on the second floor. On the first floor you can watch a documentary on Bingxin’s life and times.
福州市闽江河口国家湿地公园
Not to be confused with the nearby Min River Estuary Wetland National Nature Reserve. The park is rich in bird life, including rare species such as sand-billed pipers and black-faced spoonbills. The best time to see the birds is said to be between October and March. There is a museum in the southeastern corner of the park.
