郑和公园
Park dedicated to Zheng He, the famous Chinese navigator. Within the park is the Shengshou Pagoda (圣寿宝塔), one of the oldest pagodas in the Fuzhou region. In 1412, Zheng He came here to help restore the pagoda and construct a temple next to it before embarking on his fourth voyage. The temple was unfortunately destroyed during the Second World War, but the pagoda survived and is now one of the main attractions in the park. Also in the park is a museum displaying artifacts connected to Zheng He’s voyages. The most notable of these artifacts is a stele recording details of Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Pacific. One can also see a replica of the bronze bell that used to belong to the temple. The original bell, however, is kept at the National Museum of China in Beijing.

The main attraction in the park is the Bingxin Literature Museum (冰心文学馆), which has exhibitions on Xie Bingxin (1900-1999), one of the most prolific female Chinese writers of the 20th century. The museum’s main exhibition hall is on the second floor. On the first floor you can watch a documentary on Bingxin’s life and times.

显应宫
A notable Taoist temple close to the airport. It was first built during the Song Dynasty but burnt down in a great fire during the late Qing Dynasty. In 1992, during the construction of the airport, it was discovered that part of the old temple had survived underground, and a large number of sculptures and other artifacts from the old temple were also uncovered. A new temple was then built over the site. The surviving sections of the old temple have been preserved and incorporated into the new temple.
