Doñana National Park is in Andalusia of Spain. Spanning marshes, dunes, and woodlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is a critical stopover for migratory birds. Birdwatchers will be in their element here, spotting species like flamingos and Spanish imperial eagles. The park's pristine beaches and shifting landscapes create a haven for biodiversity.

A coastal resort village in Almonte (Huelva), developed in the 1970s as a summer tourism enclave beside Doñana National Park. Its long, fine‑sand beach and the iconic 16th‑century Torre de la Higuera attract mainly Spanish visitors, especially from nearby Seville.
A historic port town in Cádiz province, on the left bank of the Guadalquivir estuary opposite Doñana National Park. Its strategic location made it a key departure point for trans‑Atlantic voyages, including Columbus’s third expedition and Magellan’s 1519 circumnavigation. The town is the sole production area of manzanilla, a dry, slightly salty fino sherry whose ageing is shaped by the humid Atlantic microclimate. Sanlúcar is also famous for seafood (specially langostinos (a kind of shrimp), summer horse races on the beach, and boat trips into Doñana.
A small municipality in the marshes of the lower Guadalquivir, partly within the Doñana Natural Park area. Created in the early 20th century to drain and irrigate the marshes, it became Spain’s leading rice‑growing area, with almost all its land devoted to flooded rice fields. Its residents, many descendants of Valencian and English colonists, maintain a distinctive identity and a cuisine centred on rice, red crayfish and wild duck.
A small pilgrimage village (aldea) in the municipality of Almonte (Huelva), set on the edge of the Doñana marshes. Its core is the Santuario de Nuestra Señora del Rocío, a 20th‑century neo‑baroque hermitage that houses the revered statue of the Virgin of El Rocío, known as La Blanca Paloma. Each Pentecost, more than a million pilgrims arrive on foot, horseback and in ox‑drawn wagons for the Romería de El Rocío, one of Spain’s largest and most famous religious festivals, declared of International Tourist Interest and now a Bien de Interés Cultural. Outside the festival, El Rocío remains a quiet, low‑rise settlement of white houses, stables and brotherhood headquarters amid wetlands and pine woods.
