A small municipality in the marshes of the lower Guadalquivir, partly within the Doñana Natural Park area. Created in the early 20th century to drain and irrigate the marshes, it became Spain’s leading rice‑growing area, with almost all its land devoted to flooded rice fields. Its residents, many descendants of Valencian and English colonists, maintain a distinctive identity and a cuisine centred on rice, red crayfish and wild duck.
Isla Mayor is a municipality located in the province of Seville, Spain. According to the 2009 census, the municipality has a population of 5873 inhabitants.
