Marine park. Lots of colorful fish and odd turtle, small reef shark and moray eel. Coral reef badly damaged but kind of recovering. Beach in front of Beer Garden is excellent access point. This national park is a protected sanctuary. Do not touch the corals under any circumstances. Since 2025, authorities have strictly enforced fines; one individual was arrested, and prosecuted for damaging the reef.
Very popular place to surf, many different spots, for beginners to expert surfers. Hosted first national surfing competition. Venue for international events (like the Asian Surfing Championships). Good places for beginners to lear or rent a board: see several small surfers beach huts just in front of Sea Salt Society. 1-hr board rental $3 plus $12 for 1-hr lesson.
See lots of fish, small reef sharks just off the beach in marine park. It is roped off with bouys into two halves. One half contains soft sand only, ideal for safe swimming, the other contains rocks and coral, better suited for experienced snorkellers. Boats cannot enter either and lots of fish can be been in both halves. Coral restoration work is on going, mostly in the area beyond the ropes and up to the reef protecting coral wall.
