Rocío Jurado (1943-2006) was a singer and actress, one of the highest-grossing artistes in the Spanish language, yet little known beyond. She was born nearby at El Barrio 20 (not Larga 115 as maps mistakenly show) and her mausoleum is 100 m north in San José cemetery off Calle Río Miño. The centre displays her life and work, but many visitors find it shabby and run-down.
