The Balearic Islands (Catalan: Illes Balears, Spanish: Islas Baleares) are an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Spain. The four major islands are popular tourist destinations. Ibiza, in particular, is known as an international party destination, attracting many of the world's most popular DJs to its nightclubs.
By ship
It is also possible to reach them by ship, since Barcelona is only a night-crossing away aboard the most modern vessels. The journey takes just eight hours.
By boat
There are approximately 150 ferries between Mallorca and other destinations every week, most of them to mainland Spain.
If you are visiting the centre of Palma your best bet is to go on foot.

Palma de Mallorca is the chief city of the island of Mallorca, and the capital of the entire Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. With a population of 423,000 in 2022, it's home to half the people of Mallorca, and in summer feels like it contains half the people of Europe.
Ibiza is the major settlement on the eponymous island in Spain. "Ibiza" is the Spanish name; in Catalan, it is known as Eivissa.
