Wonju Natural Ecological Center

It is a former water supply facility in Wonju Station. It was designated as a registered cultural property on Dec. 31, 2004. It is owned by the Korea Railroad Corporation. It was installed in 1940 and has the typical appearance of a water supply tower in the 1940s. The facility is a water supply tower to supply water to a steam train running on the central line.

It is one of the important natural resources of Wonju City. It is a tributary that originates from Chiak Mountain, passes through the center of Wonju City, joins the Seom River, and flows into the Namhan River.

This center has one theater and 121 seats. It is where independent films and art films are mainly shown.

Chiaksan Mountain, which extends north and south around Birobong Peak at 1,288 m above sea level, has 1,000 m of high peaks, including Namdaebong Peak (1,181 m) and Maehwasan Mountain (1,085 m), and steep valleys and mountains (Guryongsa Temple, Sangwonsa Temple, Seokgyeongsa Temple, Gukgyeongsa Temple, Ipseoksa Temple) and historical sites are scattered everywhere.
