Built in 1630 by scholar Hanho Im Yeon, Sikyeongjeong Pavilion served as a place for study, writing, and scholarly discussions. The name “Sikyeongjeong” means “a place where shadows rest for a moment,” reflecting the owner’s appreciation for tranquility and leisure. Surrounded by scenic views of the Yeongsan River, the pavilion became a gathering place for poets and scholars of the Joseon period. Later, Im Yeon’s descendant Im Sang-deok, a noted scholar and author of Dongsahoe-gang, also used it as a cultural meeting spot. The site’s serene setting and architectural beauty continue to attract visitors interested in Korea’s Confucian heritage.

It features a long, wide sandy shore that appears dramatically during low tide, creating a perfect environment for mudflat exploration and shellfish gathering.
