The Allgäu is the south-eastern part of Bavarian Swabia at the northside of the Alps. The biggest part of it is located in Bavaria, a smaller one in Baden-Württemberg, but also on the borderland of Austria with the Kleinwalsertal belongs to Allgäu.

Arrival via Ulm, Augsburg, Munich or Lindau.
By car
From north by Autobahn 7 and Autobahn 9 and Autobahn 96. From east by Autobahn 96 (from Munich) and federal highway 472 (from the direction of Garmisch). From south from Fernpass or Bregenz.
The most important places of interest can be reached by train or by bus.

Füssen in Allgäu is an enchanting town in the south of Bavaria, Germany known for the Hohes Schloss and its Basilica and former Benedictine monastery of St Mang. The world famous Neuschwanstein Castle is situated a few kilometres to the east.
Kempten is a city of 69,000 people (2021) in Swabia, Bavaria, is on the banks of the Iller in the foothills of the Allgäu Alps.
Sonthofen is a city in the Bavarian part of Swabia in Allgäu. Sonthofen is a small city with 21,000 citizens which was elected Alpine City 2005.
Wangen im Allgäu is a city with around 27,000 inhabitants (in 2020) in Baden Württemberg, Germany. The Landesgartenschau will take place here in 2024.
Kleinwalsertal (little Walser valley) is a commune of the state Vorarlberg in Austria (Österreich), but only accessible from Oberstdorf in Germany to the north, and thus is an Austrian "practical exclave" or "pene-exclave".
