Israel's second largest erosion crater, after the Ramon Crater. Its edge is located several km east of Yerucham. There are hiking trails in and around the crater. Start by visiting Mount Avnon - on the road out of Yerucham, make a left turn just before beginning the descent to the crater. Mount Avnon has a magnificent view of the region.
HaMakhtesh HaGadol or simply Makhtesh HaGadol or Makhtesh Gadol, is a makhtesh, a geological erosional landform of Israel's Negev desert. It measures 5 x 10 km.

Good place for a picnic. There is also a large and very shallow lake (a rainwater reservoir), however you're not supposed to swim in it.
