A beautifully preserved 10th-century Byzantine church set in a lush valley of olive and pine trees, about 2 km from Gavrolimni. Built as the katholikon of a monastery, it features a distinctive cross-in-square plan with an elegant brick dome and traces of early frescoes; the site may overlay an earlier Early Christian basilica.
The Panagia Panaxiotissa Church is located approximately 2 kilometers outside the village of Aetolia-Acarnania Trikorfo and is one of the most important attractions of the area.
