艺术博物馆
海岱楼钟书阁
Haidai Tower is a cultural landmark that embodies the essence of Shandong's traditional culture. For the best daytime photos, head to the peak of Shangxian Bridge, where you can capture stunning views of the tower. Haidai Tower lights up around 18:30 and turns off at 23:00. If you’d like to capture the moment it lights up, be sure to arrive a bit early. The light show starts after 20:00 and is truly impressive. For souvenirs, head to the B1 level of Haidai Tower.
中国陶瓷琉璃博物馆
As one of the largest and most comprehensive modern museums dedicated to ceramics and glazed glass in China. The museum spans four floors, with two galleries on the first floor and around six galleries on each of the remaining floors. Here, visitors can explore ceramic artworks from the Neolithic era to the present, as well as exquisite glassware from around the world and innovations brought by technological advancements. When you arrive, you can store bags or large items at the front desk and pick up a guide map to help you explore.
正觉寺
Zhengjue Temple in Boshan is a serene and charming spot, ideal for a calm break amidst travel. The temple’s traditional Buddhist architecture and peaceful setting make it a worthwhile visit, especially since it’s free to enter. After exploring the temple, head to Qingmei Residence Boshan Halal Restaurant nearby, a local favorite known for its crispy beef jerky and sesame beef. It’s an authentic taste of Boshan, where the flavors truly stand out, adding a tasty finish to a cultural day out.
齐文化博物院
This museum contains galleries about the ancient Qi State that once controlled half of modern Shandong Province. A second paid-for gallery contains relics from an ancient royal tomb; very much like the Terracotta Warriors in miniature. There is also some information about China's ancient football-like sport 'cuju' and a confirmation from FIFA that Zibo was the origin of professional soccer (really!). The Qi Heritage Museum in Zibo’s Linzi District offers a fascinating dive into the ancient Qi culture, one of the most influential in Chinese history. Please note that if you are a group, you have to make a reservation at least three days in advance and arrive at the appointed time for the visit. If you do not arrive after 20 minutes please call and the reservation will be automatically canceled. Reservations are not available for casual guests. Only the Dongsun Warring States Tomb Museum charges an admission fee, which is ¥10.
中国古车博物馆
This museum, which is constructed on both sides and underneath of a motorway, has galleries containing information about and full-scale replicas of chariots from various periods in Chinese history. The chariots are impressive. An archeological site displaying slain horses from an ancient Qi State royal tomb sits directly under the motorway and is the reason for the rather isolated location of this interesting museum.
千佛寺
Thousand Buddha Temple is located across from the north gate of Zhoucun Ancient Commercial City, offering a stark contrast to the bustling crowds of the marketplace. Its modest exterior can easily be overlooked. However, inside lies a charming garden surrounded by six grand halls, forming a historic architectural complex where Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism coexist harmoniously.
山东文旅红叶柿岩旅游区
Autumn is the most beautiful time in this tourist area. The best viewing days are from Sep 1 to Nov 30. Lushang Red Leaf Persimmon Rock Tourist Area is in a valley surrounded by mountains, with a rural atmosphere. Scenic buildings covered by blue stone masonry and red tiles are built in the mountains, and there are well-preserved Qing buildings.
八大局步行街
This is a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll, with old buildings on both sides of the street. Here, you’ll find plenty of authentic Zibo snacks and unique handmade craft shops—enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The area isn’t very large, but has winding alleys and a lively crowd, and there are many long-established stores that may be of interest to you. If it’s your first time in Zibo, Badaju could be a great place to start.
孝妇河湿地公园
Known for its expansive water surfaces and natural wetland landscapes, it’s a popular spot for nature lovers and families to enjoy a peaceful day outdoors. The park features walking and biking trails, along with seasonal fountain shows, making it a great place for relaxation and active exploration. Watch out for mosquitoes, though. There are music fountain shows; check the schedule in advance if you want to be guaranteed to experience one.
唐库文创园
Tangku Cultural and Creative Park was converted from the original Mashang Warehouse of Zibo’s Sugar and Wine Station, which used to be a national sugar reserve storage facility—hence the name “Tangku.” Admission is free, but the location is a bit out of the way. From the train station, it’s about a 30-minute bike ride or around 20 minutes by car. If you’re visiting on a weekend, it’s best not to drive in, as parking is very limited.
The park has a variety of spots, including a cat café, coffee shop, ceramics shop, bakery, tea house, a crayfish restaurant, and a store for handmade goods. Markets are held only on weekends and holidays, typically from 14:00-20:00 with stalls run by local craft enthusiasts selling things like handmade items, milk tea, and cakes. If you want to experience the local lifestyle, you can even apply for a stall yourself by registering through Tangku’s WeChat public account. There’s a small stall fee, around a few dozen yuan per day, which is quite reasonable. However, stalls should feature unique, handmade, or cultural items—wholesale and finished goods aren’t accepted.
齐山风景区
Not only is the natural scenery breathtaking, but Qishan Scenic Area also has deep cultural significance. Here, you can find relics such as stone rice mills from the military camps of the Qi State during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, as well as the ancient Qi Great Wall. This area was the site of the uprising led by Tang Saier, a heroic woman from Putai, Shandong, during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. It was also where the "Four-County Joint Command" was established by the Chinese Communist Party during the Anti-Japanese War.I recommend getting a round-trip sightseeing vehicle ticket for ¥30—it saves time and lets you enjoy the scenery more thoroughly. Make sure to wear flat shoes; otherwise, the hike will be exhausting! Both cable cars and slides are available for going up and down the mountain. If you're not too hungry, it’s best to skip dining at the mountaintop restaurant—the service is slow, and the food is average at best.
马踏湖湿地公园
Within the scenic area, there are various transportation options for visitors, including rowboats, motorboats, pleasure boats, and sightseeing shuttles. The most unique experience is the rowboat, which takes you through the scenic reeds for about 30 minutes at a price of ¥99 per person. This boat ride, which follows the water route into the park, includes the entrance ticket. Tickets can be purchased at a small pavilion staffed with ticket sellers right outside the entrance. There are other types of boats available, but their operation depends on the wind conditions and the number of visitors that day.
(Do not be persuaded by elderly women trying to sell boat rides before you enter the park—they operate boats that are not part of the official scenic area.)For sightseeing shuttles, Route A costs ¥101 and Route B costs ¥201. It’s recommended to stick with Route A, as the latter part of Route B feels sparse and wild with little to see. The shuttles stop at each station, but Route B shuttles are less frequent, so if you get off midway, you might have to wait a long time for the next one.
潭溪山
After reaching the high-altitude glass walkway, you can follow the downhill stone path with this recommended route: Longfeng Terrace → Beauty Cave → Three Teachings Temple → Heaven Bridge (Upper and Lower) → Dragon’s Back Peak → Sky Glass Rafting. This path has a high concentration of red-leaf forests, making it a beautiful and easy walk. The path is not steep, with vibrant red, orange, yellow, and green leaves from Chinese smoke trees and Japanese maple scattered throughout the mountains, offering breathtaking views on sunny days.If you want to watch the sunset, it’s recommended to hike down along the walking path first, then arrive at the glass walkway around 16:30 to catch a beautiful view of the sunset. Please wear extra clothes in the mountains, the temperature really plummets in the evening when watching the sunset!
鲁山国家森林公园
Lushan, the fourth-highest mountain in Shandong, stands at an elevation of 1,108.3 meters. Lushan Forest Park is mainly divided into two scenic areas: Zaoshuyu Scenic Area and Guanyun Peak Scenic Area. There are no additional charges once you enter, and there are no cable cars or glass bridges. Unlike mountains with well-paved stairways, Lushan remains relatively undeveloped and closer to its natural state, making it popular with visitors who enjoy scrambling up the trail using both hands and feet.Since there is no shuttle transportation within the park, many self-driving visitors choose to drive directly from the main gate ticket office along the winding mountain road to the Lushan parking area at 900 meters above sea level. From there, they hike through the Guanyun Peak Scenic Area. However, if you’re confident in your physical fitness, you can start your climb from Zaoshuyu! One spot that's easy to miss but definitely worth seeing is Songyun Lake — it’s beautiful, so don’t pass it by! It’s near the Visitor Center; as you come down from the mountain, take a left turn. If you have trouble finding it, you can navigate to Lushan Hotel or ask the staff at the Visitor Center for directions.

Additionally, the restaurant has a ventilation system, so you won’t leave with unwanted odors on your clothes. Sesame salt and garlic need to be purchased separately, as they are not provided for free. Bread slices can easily burn. It’s better to grill them when the fire isn’t too strong, which will reduce the chances of them getting overcooked.
