Yverdon-les-Bains with its 24,000 inhabitants, is the second largest town in the Canton de Vaud. Situated at the southern shore of the Lac de Neuchâtel, it is the southern gate to the Pays des Trois-Lacs (Three Lakes Region) [1], host of the 2002 National Exhibition (Expo.02) in Switzerland.
Avenches is a town of about 3,000 people in the Three Lakes area of Switzerland. Avenches is noted for the Roman ruins that remain from the time when the area was a major Roman outpost.
Lucens is a city in the Jura region of Western Switzerland. It has its place in Swiss history as the location of an experimental nuclear reactor which was destroyed in a partial meltdown in 1969, Switzerland's most serious nuclear accident to date.
