Sturdy castle first built in the 13th century and restored in 1990.
Impressive Gothic church built 13th-15th century. The grand marble sepulchre is of Antonio del Corro (1472-1556) of the Spanish Inquisition. There's a good view from the plaza just west, and one of the old city gates.

Smart hotel by Rosal and Merón beaches.
Clean friendly campsite by the beach.
San Vicente is just off coastal motorway A-8. Driving from Madrid, follow A-6 north to Valladolid then A-67 towards Santander to join A-8 at Torrelavega.
