The New Capital (العاصمة الجديدة, al-ʿĀṣima al-Jadīda) is the current official name for the new capital of Egypt, 45 km east of Cairo in Lower Egypt.

By train / metro
As of 2026, there are two train connections from Eastern Cairo to The New Capital:
By car
The new city is along the regional ring road. From central Cairo, the shortest route is to use highway 50 towards Suez, and then turn onto the regional ring road.
By bus
A regional bus network is under construction and is expected to launch in 2022-23.
As of June 2025, there is a really limited public transport system in place with only 3 lines (C1, C2 and C3). All are free of use. C1 and C2 goes in the area of the ministries (where you can have a walk and come back).
