A place of popular architecture exhibition and housing the Natural History Museum in Humenné. Fifteen objects representing the wooden folk architecture of the Eastern Carpathian region are exposed. The masterpiece is the church of the Archangel Michael, built entirely of wood without a single nail. It also has several large wooden sculptures.
This Renaissance-baroque style mansion is the symbol of the city. It's the most important architectural monument and one of the largest in the Eastern Slovakia. It was owned by the Andrássy family. In front of the house are the gardens with a pond and sculptures. A museum is located in the mansion. Hungarian kings of portraits, pieces of Celtic-Dacian coins, weapons and even a Chinese salon are presented.
freedom square
a newly renovated garden square is a prohibited area for vehicles with motors. It has a central aisle and two counter-aisles. At one end, there is the war memorial, and opposite is a small covered market crowded in summer. A musical fountain enlivens its center. At the top of the square stands a monument to the memory of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, General Slovak holder of the Legion of Honour. The square is today lined with modern fronts, with banks and restaurants bars. It is very busy at all times.
Centrally located, it's an extension of the Freedom Square. It is composed of rare woody plants. It is adjacent to the mansion and gardens. In its upper part, towards Poľana, was installed the outdoor museum of Vihorlat.
The ruins of the castle Brekov stand at nearly 6 kilometers from Humenné, on a hill overlooking a small eponymous village. This Gothic castle was built in the 13th century on the site of an old fortified site of the 8th-9th century. Under the Habsburgs, the castle often changed owners until it was conquered and destroyed in 1644 by the soldiers of Imrich Tököli.
