It is in the west of London, 17 miles (27 km) from central London. It is the primary hub for the UK's flag carrier, British Airways, and for the airline founded by Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic.

Formerly Jury's Inn, served by shuttle buses and often surprisingly cheap for a hotel in the location it is under the Hilton marque, with prices comparable to Premier Inn and Travelodge if booked in advance (between £48 and £76 per night for a double room). Directly connected to Terminal 4 by a (very long and somewhat serpentine) walkway. One of the major hotel chains in the UK, this one is pretty typical Premier Inn fare - comfortable, affordable, functional and blandly international. Has a pub-style restaurant on site, with buffet and cooked breakfasts available. Usually has the most affordable rates for a hotel directly linked to T4, without having to get a taxi or shuttle bus.
As it's such a difficult to understand and constantly changing place, Heathrow has a significant internal transport system so people can get around.
