Ba Be National Park is in Thái Nguyên Province, Northern Vietnam.
Homestay (a little less comfy than a usual hostel). Can arrange pickup from the bus station at the national park's entry door (50,000 dong per person). Private taxi pickup was around 150,000 dong.
Mr Linh's homestay is located on Ba Be lake's shore. It was built by Tay craftsmen in a traditional Tay style. The rooms are furnished tastefully and the beds have spring mattresses and crisp white linen. The food is great and there is a friendly house party vibe, though no noisy music. Comprehensive services are also offered, backed up with local English- and French-speaking guides.
