Open 10AM-4PM every day from Memorial Day through Labor Day; weekends in September and October. Over 150 years old, this small building is where the Republican Party was formed in March 1854. The volume of the visitors it has seen in the century and a half since then, and the fact that it has been moved at least six times, has created some wear-and-tear on the facility.
The Republican Schoolhouse, also known as Little White Schoolhouse or Birthplace of the Republican Party, is a historic former one-room schoolhouse now located at 1074 West Fond Du Lac Street, in Ripon, Wisconsin. Built in 1853, it was designated a National Historic Landmark for its role in the 1854 founding of the Republican Party. It is now a local history museum.
