The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) is an art museum with a primary campus in Raleigh and a satellite campus in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It opened in 1956 as the first major museum collection in the country to be formed by state legislation and funding. Since the initial 1947 appropriation that established its collection, the museum has offered free admission to the permanent collection. Its holdings span more than 5,000 years, from antiquity to the present. The museum features over 40 galleries and more than a dozen outdoor works in its 164-acre (0.66 km2) park, one of the largest museum parks in the United States. In 2010, a 127,000-square-foot (11,800 m2) expansion, the West Building, opened; it received an international design award for its energy-efficient design.

Raleigh's NHL hockey team plays at Lenovo Center. A loud yet friendly atmosphere make this an excellent place to spend an evening during fall and winter. The 'Canes have won the Stanley Cup twice (in 2006 and 2026) and have become famous for their fun "Storm Surge" celebrations after home wins. The Hurricanes have also been one of the NHL's best teams since 2019, and as a result of this success, tickets have risen in price moderately with Lenovo Center filling up close to capacity for most games. Current ticket prices tend to start between $50 and $60 and can be more expensive depending on the opponent and the day of the week. The regular season runs from early October to mid-April, with the playoffs running as late as mid-June.
