Northeastern Texas is a distinctive region situated in the northeasternmost corner of the state, nestled within the verdant Piney Woods. Encompassing the counties of Bowie, Cass, Morris, and Titus, this area is notable as the only part of Texas that shares a border with Arkansas. The region's geographic and cultural landscape is marked by the city of Texarkana, which uniquely straddles both Texas and Arkansas, offering a bi-state experience enriched by its historical connection to ragtime composer Scott Joplin.
Renting a vehicle is the most practical way to get around Northeast Texas. Public transit is limited to the city of Texarkana. There is a Greyhound bus route that travels between Texarkana and Mount Pleasant.
