A National Historic Landmark constructed by the Works Progress Administration, it is notable in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining (1980). Even if you aren't staying at the hotel as a guest, it's worth taking a look inside and admiring the handcrafted Cascadian-style architecture and Native American-inspired decor. There is also a small exhibit on the lodge's WPA-era history.
