Moncks Corner

Preserves a historic canal, claimed to by the website to be the first "true" canal built in America. It has an interpretive center and Berkeley County Museum, which includes history on the Revolutionary War battle here, boardwalks, and the Stony Landing House, built in 1843.

Remains of St John's Parish church that was built in 1711 and torched by the British during the Revolutionary War, then rebuilt and burned again later. Eerily enchanting.

This is probably the biggest draw to the area, a sort of commercialized botanical garden in the form of a swamp with plenty of alligators and cypress trees, experienced via an aquarium and boat tours and trails.

Monastery for Trappist monks who welcome visitors onto the grounds for reflection or sightseeing.

Despite its size, Lake Moultrie doesn't seem to get a whole lot of love. But here is a park on its shores with a beach and recreation areas. Located on military grounds (JB Charleston) but it is supposedly open to the public upon payment of fee.
