A monument to Temple and Louis Abernathy, ages 6 and 10, who crossed the country alone on horseback around the turn of the 21st century to DC and New York to meet Presidents Taft and Roosevelt and then once again to San Francisco.
Louis Van "Bud" Abernathy and Temple Reaves "Temp" Abernathy were children from Oklahoma who, without adult supervision, took several cross-country trips. On one trip they rode on horseback from Oklahoma to Manhattan in 1910 when they were 10 and 6 years old.
