This Civil War battle was significant in two respects: it enabled the Union to gain the upper hand in controlling the Indian Territory, and it was fought primarily between non-white participants, Native Americans representing much of the Confederate side while African Americans dominating the Union side.
This multi-faceted park is centered around Lake Eufaula and has a golf course, hiking trails, campground, and the Deep Fork Nature Center.
