Exotic and prized plant species on display, and also there is a bird colony called Bird City where the original owner (one of them) sought to preserve egrets whose feathers were ravenously being harvested for ladies' attire at the time.
Jungle Gardens is a 170-acre (0.69 km2) botanical garden and bird sanctuary located on Avery Island, Louisiana. Jungle Gardens is open every day of the year, except major holidays. An admission fee is charged.
