Covers the history of the Royal Marines. The museum is in what was one of the most stately Officers' Messes in England, built in the 1860s with beautiful ceilings, huge paintings and a grand staircase.
Royal Marines Museum was a museum in Portsmouth, England, located in Eastney from 1958 to 2017, dedicated to the history of the Royal Marines from their beginnings in 1664 to the present day. In 2011 it formally became part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, an executive non-departmental public body of the Ministry of Defence. The museum's galleries, formerly housed at Eastney Barracks, have been closed since 2017 pending relocation to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
