The hall dates back to the 12th century but was rebuilt in the 1870s in cod-Jacobean style. Much of the furniture comes from the demolished Clumber Hall in Sherwood Forest. It was a teacher training college from 1945 but refurbished as a family home from 1997. The Italianate gardens are sometimes closed off as a wedding venue.
