This was a mansion built in 1790 and extended in 1815 as the seat of Clan Macdonald of Sleat. It suffered a fire in 1855, was part rebuilt but unaffordable, and abandoned in 1925. The ruin is unsafe and you can't go in, but it's surrounded by gardens and arboretum. The Museum of the Isles covers the area's extensive history.
Armadale Castle is a ruined country house in Armadale, Skye, former home of the MacDonalds.
