Summer resort in Turkey

Ayder is a summer resort in the Eastern Karadeniz region of Turkey, at an altitude of 1350 m in the Kaçkar Mountains. It's a yayla, thronged with hikers June to August but virtually closed up in winter, so it has no resident population. There's talk of developing it also to be a winter resort - there's plenty of snow - but nothing's come of this.

Bored Board
A small family-run wooden guesthouse set on the hillside above Ayder. The last part of the approach is along a footpath rather than directly by car, with assistance available for luggage. Rooms are simple and breakfast is served in the morning. Its elevated position gives views across the forested valley and surrounding mountains. Owner knows everything about the valley and hiking trails.
Clean friendly place by the dolmuş stop.
