Suao (蘇澳; Sū'ào) is a city in Ilan County. It is famous for seafood and cold springs. Apart from that it's a rather small place and it doesn't seem to be frequented by western tourists. There is a large port and some industry.

南方澳觀景台
An observation platform offering views of the surrounding mountains, sea, and settlements.
蘇澳砲台
A fort built in the late 19th century to defend the area from invasion by the French.
珊瑚法界博物館
A small museum dedicated to coral, the coral industry, and artwork made from coral.
祝大漁物產文創館
A museum dedicated to marine life and fisheries in the area.
後山公路文物館
A museum dedicated to the construction of the highway network in Taiwan.
內埤海灘
A large beach facing the Pacific Ocean which has coral reefs offshore.
豆腐岬
The cape got its name because the rock on the area resembles tofu.
武荖坑風景區
The park spreads across 400 hectares of area and features camping grounds and barbecue areas.
頂寮城隍廟
A medium-sized temple in the norther part of the township.
蘇澳晉安宮
The oldest temple in the area which is dedicated to the god of Fujian province, which is where most of the settlers who built the temple originated.

開路先鋒爺廟
A small shrine by the side of the mountain highway with views directly out over the Pacific Ocean.
蘇澳冷泉
The cold spring was discovered by the Japanese army in 1928. It has a spring water temperature of 22 °C and is both batheable and drinkable, and it has a pH of 5.5.

南方澳漁港
Built in 1923 and expanded several times since, the port supplies almost all the mackerel to Taiwan.

A Mediterranean-themed restaurant styled to look like a Santorini villa.
宜蘭餅發明館
A small cake factory with a series of exhibits related to traditional cake-making and a store where visitors can buy the produce of the factory.
There is no local public transport, but as the place is fairly small, walking is not a problem. Alternatively you can always use a taxi.
