This viewpoint offers easy access below the dramatic apse of Santa Maria de Cardet, one of Vall de Boí's standout Romanesque gems. Nestled on a rugged hillside, the church masterfully adapts to the slope with a unique semi-basement crypt—the sole example among the valley's UNESCO-listed Romanesque churches. Enjoy breathtaking panoramas of Barruera village and the expansive Salencar natural surroundings.

Walk along the right bank of the river from Barruera toward the dam to reach a scenic viewpoint with sweeping vistas of the village.Salencar (Barruera) is designated an Area of Natural Interest within the European Natura 2000 network. This wetland serves as a vital biological corridor and stopover for migratory birds traveling from northern Europe to southern regions. Exploring Salencar reveals nature's remarkable ability to adapt to both natural processes and human interventions—like the Cardet Dam constructed in the 1950s, which formed a river barrier where sediments accumulated. Over time, this fostered typical wetland vegetation, including lush reed beds that now define the landscape.
The church of Sant Pere de Boí was a Romanesque chapel in the town of Boí, belonging to the municipal district of Vall de Boí, and within the old district of Barruera. It does not belong to the group of Romanesque churches in Vall de Boí declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because it is only a few ruins. It is located north of the town of Boí, in the place still called Sant Pere, about 300 meters away. You can get there by a rural road that goes from the northern end of the town towards the north-northeast, and climbs up to the place where there is a modern stone. Only one angle of the construction can be seen, with a few regular rows of small and medium-sized ashlars, well squared. It must have been a church with a single nave, with a semicircular apse to the east, covered with wooden beams. It must have been from the 12th century.
