It is the urban beach of the municipality. It is protected from the waves by the long breakwater of the port. It is flanked by a very lively promenade, where there are all kinds of restaurants and other shops, as well as the Juli Garreta Gardens. Oriented to the south, it is 610 m long and has an average width of 48 m, made up of medium-grained sand, of a pinkish color, and the slope into the water is not very pronounced. The beach has showers, toilets, a lifeguard station, first aid, pedal boat and dinghy rental, sunbeds and parasols rental, and kiosks. It also has access ramps for people with reduced mobility.
Plaça del Mercat
serves as the heart of public and economic life in the town. A fruit and vegetable market takes place every morning on the “Plaça”. On Sundays, the weekly market takes place along the Passeig and on the Plaça, a popular meeting place for residents.
Opened in 1833, the seafront promenade was built between the medieval town and the sea. Little by little, the humble homes of fishermen from the medieval era were replaced by stately homes. Today, the area's architecture is mostly modern; because of real estate, many of the mansions are gone and condominiums have replaced them.
