In October 1957, the destroyed part of the old church that remained standing was demolished. On the vacant plot, the building designed by the banc Caixa de Pensions per a la Vellesa i d'Estalvis was erected, with the aim of housing its offices, departments and the municipal library, until the construction of the current one. The rest was destined for the construction of the new town hall. The construction project was entrusted to the architect Manuel Cases Lamolla. The construction began with the part destined for the headquarters of the Pension Fund and, later, the headquarters of the local government, for this reason, the facade has two different tones. Finally, in 1960, the construction works of the new town hall building were completed.
