The caserna is a barracks by the sea built in the middle of the 19th century to control smuggling and monitor the coast. From this point on, the Carrabiners corps took part in rescuing ships and people. El Semàfor was built in 1887 to regulate coastal maritime traffic. The function of the watchmen who lived in the building was to communicate through the use of flags with the castle of Montjuïc to warn of possible incidents or shipwrecks. This historic building is located in a unique setting and becomes an exceptional viewpoint of the delta landscape that surrounds it and the protected beach closed to the public that can be seen from its spectacular walkway.
