Nucleo visigótico do Museu Regional de Beja
One of the oldest churches in the city of Beja, it hosts a museum project that is part of an important collection from the Visigothic period. The Church of Santo Amaro is one of the oldest in the city of Beja, pointing many authors to a paleochristian foundation of this temple; more recent studies point to a dating from the tenth century, in the middle of the Islamic era, built by the Mozarabic community of Beja. The church underwent successive renovations over time, which gave rise to the current building, from the fifteenth/sixteenth centuries. In the 90s of the last century, the monument hosted a museum project related to the Visigothic era. It is considered, by some authors, as the most significant collection of the Visigothic period in Portugal
