Comboios de Portugal (CP) provide frequent trains from Setúbal and several other cities on the peninsula.
By car
Barreiro is served by the A33 motorway (CRIPS - Circular Regional Interior da Península de Setúbal). The A2 motorway (Autoestrada do Sul) skirts the southern edge of the municipality.
TCB – Transportes Colectivos do Barreiro provide an extensive urban bus system.
