This decanal church is the largest religious building in the city and a valuable monument. Because of the size of the building, historical conditions and the bishops buried inside, and because it used to house a theological seminary, it is commonly referred to by the inhabitants as "the Cathedral". It was awarded the title of "basilica" in 2009. On February 28, 2011, the building was declared a Historical Monument, which makes it one of Poland's most valuable monuments.
The Basilica of St. James and St. Agnes is a Catholic Church parish church and basilica minor in the New Town area of Nysa, Opole Voivodeship, Poland. Built in the Late Middle Ages, it was the historically the cultural centre of the town and Nysa's largest sacramental building. It is listed as a Historic Monument of Poland.
