Magsingal Church's belfry predates the actual church building by about 100 years. It also functioned as a watchtower guarding against pirates and foreign invaders. The belfry and the adjoining convent are part of the National Museum-Ilocos Region and was declared a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 2001.
