Macabebe's main Roman Catholic church, rebuilt in its original Baroque style in 1904 after it was burned by nationalist forces during the Philippine-American War in 1899. The arson also saw the massacre of 300 residents accused of treason, which explains Macabebe’s subsequent support for the Americans. Despite its relative youth compared to other colonial churches, the place retains a dated air and much artifacts and ornaments expected of an old church, including the pulpit.
