The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) is an intergovernmental regional centre of excellence that facilitates co-operation and co-ordination among the members of ASEAN, and with relevant national governments, regional and international organisations on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. It is acknowledged as the first regional initiative to save ASEAN's rich but highly threatened biodiversity and is a continuation of the ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC), which was a joint co-operation project of the ASEAN and European Union (EU), and hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines. The Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity is Dr Theresa Mundita S Lim.

On a large (252 hectares, 620 acres) experimental farm. In the 1960s and 1970s, the facility pioneered the development of fast-growing and large-yielding "miracle rice" varieties, along with controversial genetically-modified produced.
Yamashita Shrine
In 1946, General Tomoyuki Yamashita, the "Tiger of Malaya", was executed by hanging at this site following his conviction for war crimes committed by Japanese forces during World War II, including the conversion of UPLB into a concentration camp. A small shed housing a simple tombstone with Japanese inscription now stands at the site. A few meters to the back is a similar shrine to General Masaharu Homma, who was hanged after being held responsible for Japanese atrocities during the Bataan Death March in 1942.
