Heddal stavkyrkje
The largest and perhaps most impressive of the existing stave churches. These wooden buildings were designed and constructed during years 1000 to around 1350. While there are some similarities to Roman basilicas on the continent and in Britain and Ireland, technique and decoration are unique. Guided tours in English are included in the entrance fee. Reservations recommended.
