Holmestrand is a city in Vestfold, Norway. Holmestrand in Norwegian literally means small island by the beach. Holmestrand is a nice town with a charming harbour. It's nice to stroll along the harbour or if you prefer woods and hills, it's possible to go for long walks through the countryside. In the winter, good skiing is available.
Holmestrand is southwest of Oslo, approximately 1 hour away. You can arrive via bus which is comfortable and cheap.
