Saiwa Swamp National Park is a small wetland reserve near Kitale in Western Kenya. Covering only 2.9 km², it is Kenya's smallest national park and was established principally to protect the rare semi-aquatic sitatunga antelope.

A network of raised wooden paths passing above the swamp, reeds and bulrushes. Walk quietly and watch openings in the vegetation for sitatunga, wetland birds, frogs, butterflies and other wildlife. The boards can be slippery after rain.
The protected swamp is home to a population of rare semi-aquatic sitatunga antelopes. They frequently remain concealed among reeds, so wait quietly rather than walking rapidly through the park. Do not enter the wetland or attempt to attract the animals.
Shaded paths through riverine and acacia woodland, with several indigenous trees identified by labels. Look for De Brazza's monkeys, forest birds, orchids, ferns and the park's well-known Meru oak.
A resort restaurant serving resident guests and other visitors. Its location beside the park makes it the most convenient option for a prepared meal, but call ahead to confirm access, serving times and whether advance ordering is required.
Tree Top Mbugani Hut
A basic Kenya Wildlife Service hut accommodating two people in two single beds. Electricity, bedding, towels, toiletries and a private bathroom are provided. There is no kitchen, so bring prepared food or use the nearby campsite cooking area. Park admission is charged separately. Reserve through the KWS Mbugani Homes service.
A privately operated resort close to the park with self-contained and simpler rooms, a restaurant and lounge. It is convenient for visitors wanting more facilities than the KWS hut or campsite. Confirm current rates, meals and transport before booking.
A public campsite on an open grassy area overlooking the swamp. Facilities include water, toilets, a bathroom, cooking space, electricity and two round thatched shelters. Public campsites do not normally require advance booking, but confirming conditions with KWS before travelling is sensible.
By air
Kitale Airstrip is approximately 27 km from the park. Domestic and charter flights may serve Kitale, after which a taxi or prearranged transfer is required.
Saiwa is explored almost entirely on foot. Vehicles remain near the entrance and accommodation area rather than driving through the swamp.
