The building is in the Renaissance style, and was designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. The interior features notable frescoes depicting Greek myths and the battle of Lepanto.

A former factory of methanol and other chemical products, now turned into museum. It houses a small, but interesting collection of works by Domenico Ghirlandaio and other minor Renaissance painters. The museum also displays archaeological items ranging from the early Iron Age to the late Roman Period.
